- THE PLACE WHERE DREAMS ARE MADE -
ITS A FAMILY AFFAIR...
The family have spent the two years since purchasing the property, in 2016, grafting to turn it into the beautiful wedding and events venue it now is, and are just starting to build up a clientele, as well as hosting events for the local community. They all live at Highfield, too, ensuring it’s loved and enjoyed to the max, at last.
“Our families have always been absolute grafters and we’re the same,” said Andy.
“After we moved in, my mum and dad came here for a holiday and never left! They’re just as passionate about the place as we are,” he added.
- YOUR GO TO GIRLS -
THE VOICE OF REASON
CO- OWNER & FINANCE DIRECTOR - , The voice of reason, practical make-happener and Andy’s Missus. Originally from Pocklington, Lindsey studied design at Bishop Burton College and then Middlesex University, before landing a job with world-famous design house United Designs, where she was responsible for such major projects as the Metro Hotel in Park Lane, Mandarin Oriental hotels in Barcelona, Moscow and Dubai; the ‘W’ hotels in Dohar and Athens, and even Bruce Willis and Demi Moore’s former pad.
It was at United Designs that Lindsey met Andy and she worked alongside him for five years, latterly as a director, before they decided to move on and set up their own interior design company Zopsigog, part of a ‘cooperative of creative minds’ called The House Group, companies with skills from illustration to graphic design and uniform design.
Lindsey’s first commission was to create the ‘ultimate retirement house’ for a business associate of her father’s, who owned a diving company, in Kenya.
This company’s success was sealed when they were commissioned to design the iconic Oslo music venue in London’s Hackney and they continue to work together on high-profile design projects the world over, from prestigious inter-generational family estates to shopping malls, in places including India and Africa, as well as restaurants for celebrity chefs like Atul Kotcher, when they’re not busy returning old houses to their former glory!

- BEHIND THE SCENES -
THE CREATIVE FORCE
CO - OWNER & DEVELOPMENT MANAGER - The creative force, a.k.a ‘the boss’, whose ideas generally get reined in or turned into reality by ‘better half’ Lindsey.
Andy is originally from Birmingham and studied Interior Architecture at Nottingham University before spending a placement year with United Designers, who went on to give him a permanent job, where he worked his way up to Associate Director level.
This is where Andy and Lindsey met, working long hours together on various projects and becoming first friends who shared the same design ideals, and then a couple. They left United Designers in 2010 and set up their own design studio, Zopsigog, which they continue to run from Highfield House.
Though they loved their jobs and the lifestyle that went with it – including celebrity bashes with the likes of Kate Moss and Tracy Emin – they’d had enough of the rock n’roll London lifestyle which involved working 24/7 to keep their heads above water, and decided to look at moving back ‘up North’, where Lindsey is from, to achieve a better quality of life.
This was where their search began which eventually led to their purchase of Highfield House, which they have transformed into a wedding venue.
STAN THE MAN
CHIEF GROUNDS MAN & HEAD OF THE FRIENDS OF HIGHFIELD - Andy’s dad, groundsman, teacher, explorer and world-renowned botanist and author – Stan is responsible for keeping Highfield’s gardens, woodlands and waterways in their state of perpetual beauty, complete with common and more unusual flora and fauna.
Stanley is our general helper-outer, who pulls out all the stops to get things done and ensure our couples’ special days are as perfect as possible. He is also a surrogate ‘granddad’ to our guests, and can frequently be found chatting to them about all and sundry, and ensuring they feel welcome and at home.
BUSINESS & SOCIAL MEDIA ADVISOR - Andy’s sister Amy is a doctor living in Sheffield and is also a major part of our Highfield story. She is a financial supporter of the project and loves to help create craft items such as children’s outdoor picnic sets and dressing-up boxes to enhance the enjoyment of all our guests.
She also acts as counsellor to Andy and Lindsey, sense checking the decisions we make about the venue from an outside perspective.
MARKETING & PR ADVISOR -
THE BEES KNEES
Of course, our lovely Stan can’t manage our extensive house and grounds single-handedly. He is supported by a project loyal team of extended family members local specialists and friends of Highfield volunteers.
And last but no mean least the lovely Bee man - Frank - who has cared for the wildlife of Highfields’s for over 60 years. You will find him tending to one of the 50 Highfield hives, creaming delicious fresh Highfield honey and nurturing the various native species of birds – from buzzards, sparrow hawks and blue footed geese.
